NEWS RELEASE --- January 7, 2004

Holly Moon Announces Candidacy for Newaygo County Treasurer

Holly Moon announced her candidacy for the position of Newaygo County Treasurer this week upon filing her nominating petitions with the County Clerk as a Republican candidate. Holly is currently completing her second term as the Dayton Township Supervisor and is also an employee of the Newaygo County Regional Educational Service Agency (NC RESA).
Holly serves on several local boards taking a leadership role as Vice-Chairperson of the Newaygo County Supervisors Association, Board Secretary for the Gerber Memorial Health Services Board, trustee of the Newaygo County Economic Development Board, as well as committee participation with the Land Use Education Steering Committee and Newaygo County Environmental Collaborative. She is also an active member of All Saints Church, a past member of the Fremont Public School’s Board of Education, chaired the Fremont Area District Library’s millage campaign, and serves on the NCCS Student Loan Committee.
Over the past 20 years Holly has been active in various capacities in Dayton Township having been the Supervisor for 7 years, serving successfully as Township Treasurer, and as a member of the township’s Planning Commission as well as Deputy Clerk. During her tenure as Dayton Township Supervisor, many forward strides have been made including the development of the township’s website, publishing an annual newsletter, and joint planning and recreation efforts with Sheridan Charter Township and the City of Fremont to name just a few. Her strong commitment to service and ability to find common ground for collaboration with neighboring jurisdictions demonstrates her effective communication skills and leadership style.
Holly is a life-long resident of Newaygo County having been raised on a family farm in the Fremont area. She and her husband, Joe, have been married 30 years. They have three grown children and two grandchildren. Holly is confident her skills and experience in managing an office coupled with her strong customer service philosophy would lead the staff of the County Treasurer’s office to a new level of success. She believes too often people in leadership positions forget their single, most important job; that is, to serve all their customers well both internally and externally. Holly stated, “I have always wanted to share my commitment to serving the community in a larger way and becoming the Newaygo County Treasurer provides that opportunity.”
